June 27, 2024, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea – The Queen Emma Chocolate Factory celebrated a significant milestone with the presentation of a state-of-the-art Chocolate Refiner machine. The ceremony, held at the Queen Emma Chocolate Factory, marked the culmination of the PHAMA Plus Program and was attended by distinguished guests including Sidney Suma, Country Manager of PHAMA Plus; Lauren Quinn, First Secretary Economics, Australian High Commission; Michael Penrose, CEO of Paradise Foods; Karina Makori, General Manager of Chocolate; along with delegates from PHAMA Plus, the Australian High Commission, and staff from Queen Emma Chocolate Factory and Paradise Foods.
The Chocolate Refiner machine provided through the generous support of the Australian and New Zealand Governments represents a significant advancement in the factory’s production capabilities. The new equipment will enable the production of high-quality chocolate by grinding cocoa to a fine consistency, resulting in a smooth and luxurious texture.
In his address, Sidney Suma expressed his gratitude for the enduring partnership between Paradise Foods and PHAMA Plus, stating, “Thank you, Paradise Foods. After nine years, we are still standing and standing strong.” This partnership has been instrumental in driving the success and growth of the local chocolate industry.
Lauren Quinn, First Secretary Economics, Australian High Commission, highlighted the positive impact of the new Refiner Chocolate machine, stating, “The machine will be able to make high-quality chocolate and grind cocoa really finely, giving that smooth, luxurious feel. The product from this machine will make PNG proud.”
