COCOA EXTENSION OFFICER

Paradise Foods Limited is seeking three (3) qualified and experienced Cocoa Extension Officers for a short-term engagement, based in Central Province. This role supports our Queen Emma Chocolate initiative by working with cocoa suppliers in the targeted areas of Abau, Amazon Bay, and Kuriva (Hiritano Highway).

This project aims to strengthen cocoa production across the province and create sustainable income opportunities for local smallholder farmers.

Duration:

5 Months
Contract ends: 30th December 2025

Role Purpose

The Cocoa Extension Officers will deliver on-ground activities to help farmers improve production systems and meet growing market requirements, including traceability, food safety, certification, and environmental standards. Officers will also provide technical training to build farmer capacity in:

  • Cocoa block management
  • Cocoa husbandry practices
  • Proper cocoa processing techniques

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical training in block management, husbandry, and processing to smallholder cocoa farmers
  • Implement improvements along the cocoa value chain, including provision of seedlings and grafting
  • Coordinate and deliver planned capacity development activities
  • Promote climate-smart agriculture by integrating food or tree crops into cocoa systems
  • Support project partners in managing risks associated with the initiative

Qualifications & Experience

  • University qualifications in Agriculture or related fields (preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant field experience
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to plan and independently conduct on-the-job training
  • Fluency in English and working knowledge of Tok Pisin
