Role Overview

The Area Sales Manager is responsible for achieving sales targets and budgets within the assigned area by fostering and maintaining relationships with key customers, retail outlets, and wholesalers. This role requires effective leadership of sales representatives and merchandisers to drive performance and ensure consistent market execution.


Key Responsibilities

Administration:

  • Ensure reliable and accurate sales data is collected from the market.
  • Prepare and provide regular reports to management.
  • Monitor and report on competitor pricing and sales performance.

Operations:

  • Ensure all sales promotions are implemented as planned.
  • Manage company resources (vehicles, freezers, etc.) to ensure proper use and maintenance.
  • Report promptly on repair and maintenance issues.

Financial:

  • Monitor and ensure sales promotions stay within budget.
  • Maintain strict control over sales and promotional materials.
  • Ensure product samples and novelty items are distributed according to plan.

Business Development / Innovation:

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities for growth and expansion.

Communication & Relationship Building:

  • Maintain close relationships with key customers and ensure their requirements are met.
  • Liaise closely with warehouse and distribution teams to ensure timely delivery of products to customers.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in sales or territory management (FMCG experience is an advantage).
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Analytical thinker with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and meet targets.
