The purpose of this role is to ensure the implementation and maintenance of Quality Assurance/Control procedures for incoming materials and finished product inspections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Integrated Management System (HACCP, FSSC, OHSE, Environment) that complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish quality control procedures and protocols for all stages of production, from raw material intake to finished product packaging.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of product quality specifications and standards
  • Monitor production processes and product testing procedures to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Investigate quality issues, non-conformances, and customer complaints, and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Stay updated on relevant food safety regulations and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines for food safety, labelling, and packaging
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and third-party auditors for inspections and certifications.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, process efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Analyze quality data, including production metrics, testing results, and customer feedback, to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to address root causes of quality issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Provide training and guidance to plant personnel on quality assurance principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Foster a culture of quality and accountability throughout the organization by promoting awareness of quality objectives and standards.
  • Develop and implement training programs to ensure that employees understand their roles and responsibilities in maintaining product quality and safety.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of quality-related activities, including testing results, inspections, and audits.
  • Prepare regular reports on quality performance indicators, including trends, compliance status, and corrective actions and present quality reports and updates to senior management and stakeholders as needed.

The successful candidate for this position must have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Food Science or similar degree.
  • HACCP/FSS implementation
  • Internal Auditing
  • At least 5 – 10 years food manufacturing experience
  • Minimum 5 years quality systems experience
  • Leadership skills & experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively
