Our People: Suzzane Steven

25 year old Suzzane Steven is a fine testament that chocolates definitely breaks barriers as the universal language for love and compassion.

From West New Britain Province, Suzzane, despite her hearing impairment, works as the Process Operator here at the Queen Emma Chocolate Factory (QECC). She developed the disability at a very early age. Her family realized it when she was about a year old when she could not respond when they spoke to her. She has held the position since joining the company in 2015 after a six-week job training from the Red Cross PNG Special Education School. The program was training in food preparation and at the end of that training the factory went ahead to employ another student Glenish Manui and Suzzane from the second batch. The performances from both proved that there was indeed nothing stopping them from their job. Both were treated just other staff and their disability did not limit them to anything. Glenish has since left and Suzzane continues to develop excellent work habits and is always at work, punctual, observant, self reliant and working hard at her responsibilities. She works in our premium chocolate production area and her main role is making of the premium chocolate from start to finish.

We are privileged to have Suzzane here with us!
