We currently have a current vacancy for a Group Compliance Manager based in our Lae Office.

THE ROLE:

The Group Compliance Manager leads Quality Control, Quality Assurance and the Health, Safety and Environment departments with site management responsibilities for a high performing Compliance function and team culture within Paradise Company.

In conjunction, the role will oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of Paradise Food’s safety, health, environment standards and procedures across all sites.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product Quality

Ensures compliance with required Quality, GMP, ISO, Hygiene and Food Safety policies, standards and procedures

  • Ensure all Support programs are in place and updated according to Schedules and National updates.
  • Employ continuous improvement strategies to ensure product quality, process optimisation and waste reduction.
  • Ensure Inspection & Teasing program is current, and all issues investigated thoroughly.
  • Review and trend emerging issues in complaints and in production and implement action plan to address and eliminate them.
  • Training of all employees in Food Safety, Personal Hygiene, GMP, Allergen Control and Food Security according to National Requirements.

Customer/Consumer

Maintain and enhance relationships with key customers, councils and other regulatory bodies Industry Liaison.

Policy Development & Documentation Control

Assist in the development and implementation of National Policies and Procedures, which are consistent with the Food Safety Management System, Legislation and Regulations. Research emerging local and international industry standards and proposed legislative changes.

People

  • Provide leadership to the team.
  • Encourage, support and motivate team in achievement of agreed targets and goals.
  • Review team and individual performance.
  • Develop knowledge, skills and attributes of team and individuals to achieve productivity gains.
  • Ensure effective and value-added time management of team.

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Ensure all appropriate actions are taken to implement Safety initiatives, the Occupational Health and Safety Policy, Safety Health and Environment procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Monitor health and safety performance within area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate commitment to health and safety through participation in formal and informal discussions, workplace visits and hazard inspections, etc.
  • Participate where required in the resolution of safety issues and Review all accidents/incidents and prepare report if appropriate.
  • Participate in the Health and Safety Committee where required and Regularly review the health and safety performance of supervisors.

Safety Training, Awareness & Projects

  1. Develop and implement annual Safety Training Plan as agreed with time frames and course contact covered.
  2. SMS implementation objectives within time frame agreed with External Consultant and objectives agreed with GM Operations.
  3. Safety Audits carried out to identify any non-compliances or improvement initiatives at all sites.

QUALIFICATION &EXPERIENCE

  • Tertiary Qualification in Food Science or similar Degree.
  • HACCP implementation. Certificate &experience in setting up HACCP Program.
  • Internal Auditing. Auditor Certificate with more than 5 years’ experience in Quality /Food Safety Management System audits.
  • Internal Auditing and Train the Trainor (TOT)Certifications.

EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL

  • 5-10 years’ proven experience in a Compliance leadership position whether Quality, HS&E or similar.
  • At least five (5+) years management experience in similar role and minimum 5-years Quality Systems experience.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE ESSENTIAL

  • GMP knowledge and Experience in HACCP procedures and documentation.
  • Experience in Quality Systems development and documentation
  • Experience in Food Legislation and Product Development and Improvement
  • Experience in Internal and External Auditing of food safety systems
  • Continuous Improvement Philosophy and Ability to prioritizes activities and make decisions.
  • High level of motivation and results driven
  • Proven ability to work unsupervised and Ability to withstand constant pressure
