Employee Engagement is vital for Every Company.

Our Group CEO, James Rice shares with us some insights into the importance of employee engagement.

“If you take care of your employees, your employees take care of your customers and your customers take care of your profits,” said James Rice, Group CEO Paradise Company Limited.

So why do people work? What motivates someone to come to work every day? It should not only be about the money because you can work anywhere and make the same or more amount of money. According to our Group CEO, who is known to participate in employee events both at work and after hours, it should be about four essential things: (1) learning experience, (2) challenging work environment, (3) inclusiveness, and (4) being part of a bigger picture.

“As the CEO and head of the company, it is more valuable for me to engage with everyone and be part of what is going on. In that way, I understand them and they understand me as well.”  Investing in employee engagement helps retain the best employees and decreases the chance of losing them. It also helps in recruiting the best people when your employer brand is enhanced.

“It’s one thing to show up, do something and leave – it is another if the work is challenging and interesting.  Engaged employees are happy and are determined to show up to work. They feel they are part of the organization they work for and therefore will perform to or beyond expectations,” Rice said.

“Engaged employees work creatively well because they like what they do. It is no secret that when you are interested in and connected to what you are doing, you are more likely to do it better.”

“Being respectful toward people, talking and engaging with everyone regardless of their position or status is a great way of motivating employees. Anyone can work in the production line and notice something is wrong with the machine, products or the packaging and just let it go, but someone who cares about his or her job, who is respected and feels valuable, would be proactive on the job, and they won’t let mistakes go through the system.”

“We could have 1,200 people come here and do a mediocre job every day or 1,200 people come here and do a great job every day. It has become apparent that understanding how employees feel about their workplace environment will affect how they work, and it starts with the CEO being engaged and showing he cares.”
