Paradise Foods Limited, West Taraka site, currently has a vacant position in it’s Cold and Chain Department for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual based in Lae.

This position reports to the Refrigeration Coordinator.

Primarily, responsibilities are as follows:

  • Maintenance and Repairs: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on ammonia refrigeration plant, reefer containers, walkabout containers, display freezers, beverage coolers, and process cooling equipment, ensuring all components such as compressors, evaporators, condensers, and expansion valves function efficiently.
  • System Optimization: Monitor and adjust system parameters to maintain optimal cooling performance and product integrity and ensure compliance with operational requirements.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues to minimise downtime and ensure equipment reliability in diverse operating conditions.
  • Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, including safe refrigerant handling practices and proper documentation.
  • Emergency Response: Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns, providing effective on-site solutions to restore cooling operations with minimal disruption.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and manage spare parts inventory to ensure availability of critical components and reduce repair lead times.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with operations, logistics, and technical teams to ensure refrigeration systems meet the business’s demands.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed logs of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs for tracking, audits, and continuous improvement.
  • Project Involvement: Support installation, commissioning, or upgrade projects for refrigeration equipment, contributing technical expertise to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Energy Efficiency: Proactively identify and implement measures to optimize energy usage and improve system performance, contributing to cost savings and environmental sustainability

  About You:

  • Trade Certification in Refrigeration Mechanic or equivalent (APTC) or Electrical Mechanic with vast experience in Reefer Containers and Walkabout Containers
  • More than five years’ experience in Industrial Ammonia and Commercial Refrigeration
  • Problem-solving and diagnostic skills
