We are seeking a qualified Occupational Health Safety & Environment Coordinator who will coordinate and conduct awareness on Occupational Health and Safety and Hygiene activities on site by ensuring compliance with Paradise Foods HS & E and other regulatory standards.

About the Role:

The position is based in Port Moresby and ensures the policies, procedures and systems safeguard the workplace health and safety, and hygiene of people employed and minimizes risk to employees. This is achieved by supervising and coordinating the workplace safety activities and ensuring employees comply with all safety policies, procedures, and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • OHSE Program Development – Establish and maintain comprehensive HSSE programs, policies, and procedures that comply with regulatory and industry standards. Collaborate with stakeholders to set objectives and continuously monitor and improve safety initiatives.
  • Risk Assessment & Hazard Identification – Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential safety, security, health, and environmental hazards. Implement mitigation strategies and control measures to minimize or eliminate risks within the manufacturing plant.
  • Incident Management & Training – Develop procedures for reporting and investigating incidents, near misses, and environmental spills. Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Provide HSSE training, toolbox talks, and safety briefings to enhance awareness and compliance.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Emergency Preparedness – Stay updated on relevant HSSE regulations and ensure compliance through inspections and audits. Develop emergency response plans, conduct drills, and coordinate with emergency responders for effective crisis management.
  •  Environmental Management – Monitor and manage environmental aspects such as waste disposal, emissions, and resource conservation. Implement pollution prevention and sustainability initiatives while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations through audits and assessments.

About You:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, in an industrial or occupational health setting for similar role
  • Current certification in Fire Fighting, Emergency Response and First Aid.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace health and safety practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle medical emergencies calmly and efficiently.
  • OHSE Level 1-4 or Workplace Safety Level 1-4
