Production Coordinator
Paradise Foods is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Production Coordinator to join our team in Lae. This role reports directly to the Production Manager and plays a key part in ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality manufacturing operations.
The Role
Technical & Operational Responsibilities:
- Develop the roster schedule to meet weekly production plans, including overtime and cleaning requirements
- Provide manufacturing direction and support to supervisors and line staff, developing subordinate skills through effective decision-making
- Lead the manufacturing operations team in adhering to and improving GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
- Utilize site resources effectively to meet production targets daily
- Improve operational performance by increasing yield, reducing downtime and waste, and enhancing quality and safety
Financial Responsibilities:
- Advise and develop strategies with the Production Manager to maximize profit and minimize costs
- Monitor absenteeism, overtime, punctuality, and staff performance, implementing improvement actions as required
- Work closely with site departments to ensure production targets are met and support is delivered where needed
Internal Systems & Processes:
- Implement and monitor site policies and procedures for effectiveness
- Collaborate with other managers to ensure management information systems provide production performance data
- Ensure accurate collation and availability of production performance information for all staff
Human Resources & Organizational Capability:
- Work with the HR Coordinator to hire, induct, manage, and, if necessary, terminate staff in line with company policy
- Ensure all production positions are filled through merit-based selection
- Identify staff training and development priorities and implement effective programs
- Lead by example to foster a positive teamwork culture and manage performance matters promptly
- Ensure adherence to company code of conduct
Occupational Health & Safety:
- Maintain corporate OH&S standards on production lines
- Ensure all work practices are conducted safely and hazards are minimized
- Conduct investigations into unsafe work methods or incidents
About You
- Experience and/or qualifications in biscuit production
- Degree in Food Technology, Business, Engineering, or equivalent workplace experience
- Minimum three years’ experience in a management-level production role in a manufacturing environment
- At least five years’ experience demonstrating success in manufacturing/production management
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and make effective decisions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, self-starter, capable of handling challenging reporting situations
