Production Manager - Chocolate; Paradise Foods Limited

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Production Manager for our Chocolate plant based in Port Moresby. The incumbent will be responsible for leading the Chocolate production team. Ensuring there is strict compliance to all Quality control systems and food safety systems adhered to throughout the production process. Ensure there is timely planning, production scheduling and welfare of employees for delivery of production targets.

Role Responsibilities:

Success in this position will be measured by the achievement of targets. For example:

  • Ensuring all production lines meet or exceed their production targets.
  • No Loss Time Injuries (LTI’s) or Medical Treatment Injuries (MTI’s) are incurred.
  • An acceptable standard of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is achieved and maintained.
  • Performance reporting on production lines’ key metrics
  • Adopting Lean Manufacturing in the Production environment
  • Develop strategies to reduce waste throughout the process and increase throughput.
  • Ensuring products supplied and processes undertaken are of the highest standard and meet all technical requirements/specifications and ensure that we continue to operate within GMP guidelines.
  • Ensure that all operational functions are planned, scheduled and managed to meet company expectations.
  • Ensure work practices do not endanger the health and safety of production staff or compromise the quality of the finished product.
  • Liaise with all aspects and divisions within the business on Production related matters.
  • Performance reporting on production lines key metrics
  • Budgets set for production, safety and environmental items.
  • Actions taken on customer feedback.

About You:

  • Food Technology or Engineering degree (+5 years’ experience – minimum)
  • Strong chocolate manufacturing experience (essential)
  • Strong operational and manufacturing leadership experience in FMCG industry
  • Chocolate R & D formulation experience
  • Familiar with chocolate-making equipment and technology
  • A strong awareness of and commitment to safety management
  • The ability to lead the workforce and improve production teams
  • Time management skills
  • Excellent communication (verbal & and written), coaching, and leadership skills in a team-based environment. 
  • Demonstrated abilities in analytics, problem-solving and decision making
  • Proficient in Computer applications
